I am currently working at a small manufacturing company where I am the sole person responsible for various activities such as preparing purchase orders, sales invoices, central and sales tax returns, accounts maintenance, and payroll processing. I am unsure of what designation to mention in my resume. Kindly advise.
Thank you.

At the time of the interview, what was the designation assigned to you? What I feel is you should consider yourself as an Accounts Executive or Admin. In my case, I am handling all the activities you mentioned, and in addition to those, I am managing petty cash, all purchase-related work, stock maintenance, liaisoning, recruitment, all HR tasks, compliance, and more. I started as Manager Admin and later transitioned into Manager HR/Admin.
Cheers!

These activities are related to Accounts work, such as preparing purchase orders and sales invoices. Central sales tax returns and accounts maintenance are related to Finance & Administration, while payroll processing falls under Administration and HR. Therefore, I will go with Mr. Jeevarathnam. "Account & Admin Executive" would be better.
One thing I would like to mention is that you should not assign yourself a job title without obtaining approval from your boss or senior after discussing it with them. I understand that you handle multiple responsibilities, but there is someone above you whose agreement on this matter is crucial and carries significant weight.
Hope I have made myself clear.

Thank you for your inputs. There are many organizations where accounts personnel handle payroll, especially in small and mid-sized garment manufacturing and other industries. Accounts personnel are often involved in managing payroll tasks.
As you mentioned, the designation will be determined by the management itself. Based on Mahalakshmi's comments, it seems that there may not be a senior colleague in her department, and she might be reporting directly to the Boss/MD.
Thank you for your attention to these matters.

You can ask for his suggestion regarding the designation. If not, then you can request the designation of Accounts Executive. One more thing to keep in mind is your career. Brief me on your future plans. Do you aim to work in Accounts or HR/Admin? Qualifications also matter. Based on all the criteria, if you select the designation, it will help in your career development.
