I am an English trainer with four years of experience in teaching spoken English, grammar, and communication skills. I have an M.A. in English Literature. I want to develop my skills and work in top institutes like T.I.M.E and others. However, I heard that one should have additional skills, like reasoning, to work there. I am solely an English trainer and lack knowledge in other fields. I am dissatisfied with my current pay. Please guide me.

Thank you for replying. I have been teaching spoken English and grammar throughout my career. Recently, when I interviewed at a reputed institute, they administered a test that included reasoning as well as English. Unfortunately, I did not qualify as I had never encountered a reasoning question paper before.
Regarding pay, I believe one should receive enough to honor their commitments. I am not greedy.
Anyways, thanks for guiding me to the website.

Advantages of Being an English Teacher
One advantage you have is that you are an English teacher, and therefore, you can comprehend a problem described in English much easier and faster than those who are not well-equipped in English. This is half the battle won by you when compared to those with lesser skills in speaking and understanding English, who have to make double the effort.
Cracking Problems or Puzzles Based on Reasoning
Reasoning skills are not special skills that can only be acquired by a particular class of people. Many myths exist, such as the belief that these puzzles can only be cracked by those with a background in science, maths, or engineering. Firstly, it is necessary to dispel this myth if it is entertained by you, as it creates the first mental block that prevents you from progressing in your efforts to master reasoning skills. These skills are based on common sense and a basic level of maths that anyone is familiar with.
The key to cracking these puzzles will, in most cases, be based on a particular pattern or method. You need to understand this key. To understand this key, you need to:
1. Be patient and spend some time on each puzzle initially to understand the key.
2. Use your common sense and try to think differently, not mechanically.
3. Practice these puzzles daily within a given time slot since only practice can make you perfect. The more you practice, the more you gain perfection, and probably in your next attempt, you will excel.
Therefore, start now and get hold of a good book on tests of reasoning to become a winner.
