Respected Seniors,
I need a suggestion about my career, that right now i m having 6yrs of exp in IT Recruitment.
Now I am interested to move into generalist hr profile, can you guys please suggest me for the same do i need to do some certification, i mean certification in particular part of hr such as Payroll, T & D,....
And what is the scope of these certification and from where i have to do??????
Getting very confuse these days!!!!!
Please help!!!!

Dear Richuka,
For moving into a generalist HR profile, its is not necessary that you should be completing any certification. Certification by itself will make you competent into a specific area of HR and not into a generalist HR.
If you have done some homework on this topic or used the 'research' option in citehr, the job description of a generalist HR will be clear. You need to be equipped with working knowledge on every functional area of HR like Recruitment, Selection, Training , Payroll, Appraisal, Compensation and Benefits, Exit etc.
The KPI's will be directly linked to the above functions and KRAs will be set on the basis of generalist role.
Firstly, look out for an employer who will be hire you as a generalist, get acquainted with functions and once you feel you need to learn more and get certified, go ahead.

R you trying to say that i'll prepare my self theoretically for Generalist opening to crack an interview, and where ever i feel the need accordingly go for specification in a particular area.....
Tell me one more thing that does the growth scope would increase after certification or which certification and from where to get gives me the career growth....

Definitely you need to be prepared to crack an interview. Learning will be either through the subjects you have covered in your MBA HR or through practice in your existing or previous employments
To be an effective generalist HR , a certification or MBA - HR alone will not help you. You should be equipped with competencies to handle the issues pertaining to all functional areas, face scenarios and come out with right solutions.On the lighter side you can say " Master of all, Jack of none".
Certification will definitely boost your chances of career advances , only if your are able to apply it effectively for the betterment of people and organization
I can guide you on the certification, but only after you venture into generalist HR role and realize which is your apt area and needs further learning and certification.

It is good that you wanna move into the Core HR or wanna go with HR Generalist profile. You are ambitious and have a good experience in the market and well familiar with the requirements of our market. I meant to say that being a recruiter, you already know what JDs and required skills should have an employee for this post, what an employer wants from an employee to achieve their Organization goals, mission and vision for their organization for whatever post.

And the most important thing is that you know yourself better than anyone but just need the direction as you are confused and worried about your career and looking for…

Well hope you know about HR Generalist profile and the JD but about certificate course, you must go for it and for this you can go with any good and nearby institute of yours which will give you the strong basic and practical knowledge to give a start to your aim.

But I also agree with Mr. Sriram, you can download any or whatever you required sample format from this esteem place (CiteHR), can read threads/post where we members discussed with each other on every issue almost. This will also give you the understanding and the every possible news and development of HR.
