Dear sir,
I am working in the HR Dept. of a factory employing 33 workers and manufacturing Biocompostable Packing bags etc. in Gujrat ( Ahmedabad ).
We have recently opened salary accounts of all employees and their salaries are being deposited in them.
As per the factory act ... leave register is mandatory.
My query is that is it necessary for the workers to sign even if the salary is deposited directly.

The labour department is the competent authority under payment of wages act & they are now a days directing all the employers to open bank accounts for even contract labour also hence submit a letter to labour department that you have opened salary accounts in a particular bank and depositing the salaries directly in to their accounts and obtain an acknowledgement and submit a copy to Factories department also and file the acknowledgement copies in your office file.

Every month you obtain a copy from the bank that the salaries are deposited in to respective accounts and file along with the pay sheet.
Regards - kamesh

Thank you so much for this query. your saying that in your company 33 Employees are working. but now i am working in consultancy and 10 peoples are working, they are are depositing salary into salaries accounts and they are not getting any signs on any paper.
Best Regards

Thanks kamlesh333, After submitting the copy to the Factories Dept., is it necessary to maintain the salary register and obtain the worker’s signatures. Thanks,
Dear Dimplegandhi
You must maintain the Attendance Register, Overtime Register (With entry that "No worker has done any overtime during this month"), Wages Register (It must match with attendance Register and Minimum Wages fixed by the Govt of Gujarat), which will be checked by the Factories Inspector of your area. (If the salary is deposited in bank, better keep a record to support your wage register, so that you can prove the salary credit in the concerned employees salary account to the Factories Inspector) Nil Registers are also to be required to be maintained and Wage Slip also to be given to the employees in Form 4B as per Minimum Wages Act.
PF and ESI records also to be maintained to support the deduction shown in Salary Register.

I agree with Kamesh - Apart any attendance register is accountable documents. This is necessary for the Chartered Account for Audit and prepartion of Blance sheet and P&L Statement at the end of financial year.

Hello HR skippers i need to know that is it necessary to maintain director salary/ remuneration file . or the tally print out would be fine enough ???
Dear Neelam Sharma
Please maintain the Salary / remuneration file in addition to the tally printout. Eventhough it is not asked by anyone for the salary details of a director, it will be helpful in your needy hours. You can maintain the same alongwith the director's personal file.
