I was working in a company on a contractual basis. I resigned from that company without serving a notice period due to some critical reasons. Now, I am in need of my relieving letter from that employer. I am ready to pay one month's salary in lieu of the notice period as per the contract, but they are clearly refusing to provide me with that letter.

Kindly help me.

Ensuring Proper Handover and Communication

Did you hand over the responsibilities, company assets, and documents properly? Talk to your immediate boss and explain the ground realities for leaving without serving the notice period. Maybe on humanitarian grounds, your request will be considered for the issuance of a relieving letter. Bear in mind that the notice period is meant for a smooth transition (including finding an alternative), and if we do not honor the basic principles of the notice period clause, the employer may refuse to issue the exit formalities.

In my case, my immediate boss is not understanding the situation and refuses to complete exit formalities. I am trying to convince him; even I am ready to pay one month's salary in lieu of the notice, but nothing works.
