Folks,

Read This

HR must....

1. Understand the business model of the firm (Revenue

and cost Model) and the key drivers of financial and

Non-financial performance.

2. Communicate all aspects of HR policies and

Procedures to employees honestly and forthrightly.

3. Listen to the problems of employees and line

Managers and take their feedback in the right

Perspective.

4. Create open and transparent HR policies, systems

and procedures, the most critical among them being the

Performance appraisal system.

5. Encourage all line managers and functions to

Develop people skills and HR capabilities.

6. Leverage IT to improve efficiency and effectiveness

And outsource routine jobs like payroll, benefits

Administration.

7. Measure its performance in qualitative and

Quantitative terms – sometimes using external agencies

to get credible viewpoints.

HR Must Not

1. Be inaccessible and unapproachable to employees.

2. Create bureaucratic procedures and make life tough

For internal customers

3. Burden itself with mundane jobs which can be more

Cost-effectively done by outsiders.

4. Always present a management point of view. In

Firms, which don’t have unions, it must represent

Employees to the management.

Thanks

Hello Pandeyji,
The information you provided is great.
Can you please elaborate the third point,
" Listen to the problems of employees and line
Managers and take their feedback in the right
Perspective. "
Atleast cite an example for it.
With regards

GOOD ONE KRISHNA,
H.R. must also be able to work out their balancesheet & be able to place it in with the other units / departments balancesheet in the company's overall balance sheet. Mere understanding is far from being enough. H.R.must be able to work through a balancesheet , understand the nuances of the drivers, revenue + cost , be able to hold , show their bottom lines & above all be seen, felt as an unit that has as good an appreciation of what it takes to drive the organization. All this must be demonstrated. This will earn H.R. the opportunity to occupy the corner office in the organization. :D A.S.PRASAD.
