Dear Sir,
I am working in a manufacturing company where a grace period of 5 minutes is provided. If employees arrive after the grace period, can we deduct their salary for being late? Kindly provide clarification on this issue.
With warm regards

Hi! The answer to your question is "yes," you can deduct the salary for latecoming; otherwise, there is no use in having a time limit or grace period. At the same time, there should be a monthly limit as well. For example, 90 minutes a month and 5 minutes a day. If the employee is coming after 5 minutes, the salary would be deducted for 6 minutes, not just 1 minute. Similarly, you would calculate for a month, and if the employee has exceeded the limit of 90 minutes, you would deduct the salary for those minutes.
Hope this helps.
