What are some advantages and disadvantages of internet recruiting?

I believe that internet recruiting can attract a large quantity of applicants, but it could also attract a large number of disqualified applicants as well.

Any other input would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Scott,

I believe that the internet is one of the best channels for attracting a large number of applicants. Recruitment involves various processes such as screening and interviewing. However, conducting interviews on the internet is still not advisable as it can lead to numerous fraudulent activities. Therefore, if you require a large number of applicants from diverse geographical locations, the internet remains the most effective medium.

Hi,

It's one of the best ways to reach a talented workforce around the globe. Companies require skilled workers to find the best personnel globally, and Internet recruitment can help them with this task.

There are a few demerits in this process, but it all depends on the company's or human resource department's policies on achieving 100% accuracy in evaluating candidates.

Thank you,

I would like to know about the affordability for small organizations around the globe.

Yes, internet recruitment can lead to a firm hiring unqualified employees and also result in the employment of overqualified individuals. Another challenge for employees is dealing with international boundaries, where firms may be hesitant to hire workers from overseas.

Please let me know if you need further assistance or have any other questions.

Hi,

Internet recruitment has some advantages as well as disadvantages. It helps you drive targeted, quality traffic directly to your corporate website or niche job board through cost-effective search engine optimization and marketing strategies. It saves money as well as time. Outsmart your competition, reduce marketing costs, better measure results, improve candidate flow, and increase brand awareness. You have access to more people and a broader selection of applicants, the ability to target the type of people needed, access to people with a technical background who know computers, convenience, quicker response and turnaround, and ease of use.

On the downside, using the Internet to recruit poses a dilemma regarding attracting the 'passive job seeker'—the person who is not actively searching on the Internet but may nonetheless be interested in openings in your organization. To find these passive job seekers, companies might consider setting up their websites that welcome applicants. An increased volume of applicants may also become a problem if Internet recruiting is overused. An organization must ensure that it uses an adequate tracking mechanism to deal with this increased volume. Another disadvantage is that not everyone has access to or uses the Internet.
