What might be the correct answer ?
Sir, , I have been called for interview in Punjab National Bank, for the post of clerk. My question is if they ask why do you want to join PNB only ? Then, what could be my best possible answer ?
Well, I am looking for a government job but this is not to be pronounced . As researched from the site I found that it is largest nationalised bank after SBI (in the public sector) but this will not be enough. Kindly help .

Vasu,
Simple answer -1. The exam which i cleared is this only. 2. Then you can tell as since the bank is no. 1 in nationalised sector other than SBI, want to indulge myself in such a big group for servicing the public and nation.3. Bank with innovative products, schemes & services which made you to take up the exam and eager to do service. Hope this will help u.
Good Luck.

Dear vasusaha

I find that you have posted 8 threads centering around the same problem, and you have got sufficient responses too. One of your thread has 37 replies and 1648 views;

Yet you complain of lack of responses !

It would have been better, if you had posted this new query (an extension of the earlier situation), on the same thread on which you were getting a steady stream of replies.

Continuing the same thread, which you started on 5th Jan. 2010 :

had you informed the members of the new developments that, you have been selected by PNB for an Interview; not only the members who had taken pains to reply to you in the previous threads, would have felt gratified and happy; they would have further helped you out.

It is easier to help when one knows the case history; rather than just a sketchy brief "demand for help". Hope you will keep in mind this suggestion, when you seek help next time.

In the instant case,
  • Do not worry too much about a hypothetical question which may or may not be asked.
  • The success in an interview does not depend on just rattling off a "copybook" answer.
  • Generally interviewers are experienced persons who can see through an answer, whether it is sincere or just learnt off the books.
  • Interview is not just a Question-Answer session, but an assessment of personality, suitability and 'fit'.
  • You should be honest and true.

If you never heard of the particular bank or never thought of joining it before, be honest and tell them. You can say,

"I had never thought of joining a particular bank, but after I applied for a job in PNB, I took a keen interest and came to know about its achievements etc.... (Here, you can stress upon the facts that set it apart from other banks - your 'research' would be silently noticed and appreciated by the interviewers). Now, I am very eager to join such an illustrious Bank."

One should be truthful but at the same time state facts tactfully.

Best wishes for your success in the Interview.
