Dear Friends,

Numerous traditions and applications employing astrological concepts have arisen since its earliest recorded beginnings in the 3rd millennium BC. Astrology has played an important role in the shaping of culture, early astronomy, the Vedas, the Bible, and various disciplines throughout history. In fact, astrology and astronomy were often indistinguishable before the modern era, with the desire for predictive and divinatory knowledge being one of the primary motivating factors for astronomical observation. Astronomy began to diverge from astrology after a period of gradual separation from the Renaissance up until the 18th century. Eventually, astronomy distinguished itself as the scientific study of astronomical objects and phenomena without regard to the astrological understandings of these phenomena.

Astrologers believe that the movements and positions of celestial bodies either directly influence life on Earth or correspond to events experienced on a human scale. Modern astrologers define astrology as a symbolic language, an art form, or a form of divination. Despite differences in definitions, a common assumption of astrology is that celestial placements can aid in the interpretation of past and present events and in the prediction of the future.

Do you believe in astrology???

Thank you!

Astrology is fake. Since we are talking "scientifically," we'll do a simple experiment.

1. Visit 10 different astrologers and ask for their predictions.
2. Compare their predictions. You will find that every one of them will give you different answers. How do you tell which one of them is telling the truth? The answer: no one. Basically, it's randomness. Some people believe these random predictions are real, while some will say they are just scamming the poor people out of so much money.

Did you hear about Nostradamus? He has predicted the future!

We have a person in Andhra named Brahmamgaru; he is known as the Indian Nostradamus.

Have you heard about them? I will share their predictions if you all are interested!

I honestly believe that anyone can make a number of predictions, and they are bound to have some of them come true. Develop them into an ambiguous format and let others interpret them, and you can come up with many possible "close" predictions. The only predictions I've seen that people say came true are always from 10 different predictions put together with words and meanings twisted to fit the fact...

First of all, I am not interested in astrology. I don't want to know about my future, whether it be good or bad. No one can stop what's going to happen, so what's the use? Once we get to know a few incidents, then we will lose our peace. We will forget about today and think of the future without even knowing whether we will be alive or not.

Whatever deeds we do are going to reflect in our future, so being good and doing good is what I believe. No one can change our fate, so let's leave it to God.

Well, I believe in it partly!

I actually find it interesting and fascinating to read about astrology and success stories like that of Nostradamus. I believe those who do not do it for money. For example, some sadhus just say something to you while passing by and do not expect any monetary reward.

But the bigger truth is that lots of people fall prey to fraudsters who make money from innocent people in the name of predicting and rectifying their future.

Also, as Malini said, who wants to lose sleep over what the future holds :)

Hi Nithya,

Quite an interesting topic...

There is a saying, "Don't believe in your stars, believe in yourself."

How true! If we find and ask ourselves where we go wrong, we will definitely progress forward!

I believe this, "Know thyself, everything else will fall into place."

I do not let it rule every step of my life or believe in it in a way that hampers my thought process or functioning!

Personally, I don't believe much in Astrology, Numerology, or other predictions. While some totally believe in the prediction of individual birth stars for their future, I know a few who have the regular habit of buying magazines that predict their future. The same message is given to thousands of people under the same star or sign. How can the predictions be the same for so many? It sounds ridiculous to me!

Rather than relying on these predictions, if one seeks the advice of experienced persons or elders, they would be guided better through troubles or problems and find a way out of them.

Astrologers or predictors... My humble feeling is that, with due respect to true astrologers, nowadays many... I'm not sure if they help others with their predictions; they do seem to rely on other people's belief in such things.

Isn't it much better to concentrate on our minds, our efforts, and our goals and strive to achieve them?

I personally feel that to attain peace and solace, one needs to delve inside rather than look outside!

Different people have different ways of giving out readings to others, and individuals have varying methods of understanding them. What truly matters here is how we interpret these readings and apply them in our lives. They do not provide answers to our problems but can serve as a guide.

Nits, the way you phrase your question implies that you view astrology as a belief system. However, astrology is not merely a belief system; it is an ancient sacred science that has been utilized by various cultures for millennia to address questions that cannot be answered through conventional means.

Do not believe something solely because a purportedly wise individual stated it.
Do not believe something solely because it is a widely held belief.
Do not believe something solely because it is written in ancient texts.
Do not believe something solely because it is claimed to have divine origins.
Do not believe something solely because others believe it.
Believe only what you have tested and judged to be true.
In life, nothing is to be feared; it is only to be understood.

I have found that a lot of humans like to trust in emotion and superstition rather than logic and common sense. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but sometimes our imaginations seem to leap high above what is truly the case.

All the predictions are based on the "Infinite Monkey's Principle."

Hi friends.

The subject of the poll is whether we believe in astrology.

I am putting my comments.

Yes, I do believe in astrology. It's a perfect science. It's a mathematical calculation based on the positions and movements of the planets in our solar system. Everyone knows about this, so I will not delve too deeply.

It's a proven science. Some well-known names who have elevated this science to amazing heights include Cheiro and Nostradamus.

It is believed that astrology can provide exact predictions. This is true to a great extent, provided you can find a truly knowledgeable person in this field, which is quite rare worldwide. It's very difficult to find such a person.

Now, how does it matter to us?

For me, it hardly matters. There are two reasons:

1. If predictions are so accurate that we cannot avoid the events foretold, then if it's good, why rush to know about it, and if it's bad, why ruin our present worrying about the future.

2. If it doesn't work, then who cares.

The bottom line is our future depends on our present—what we do and how we do it. Even if not, just try your best and relax. Leave things to unfold naturally and don't dwell on matters beyond your control.

Nithya,

Yes, I do believe in Astrology. I didn't earlier, but 6 months back I got introduced to a Jyotishi who told me about some of the events in the past which had occurred with me, which only I knew about, and some things which were presently going on in my life! I was shocked at first. Since then, I have started believing in Astrology, however, I don't do anything blindly. There are some things called stars and signs, but there are some calculations as well. A good astrologer can never predict an accurate time frame but will give you a duration. You can't stop what is written in your destiny, but you can minimize the effect if it is bad and increase it if it is something good with the help of astrology. (I have done that myself)

Tip - You should never believe all of the things an astrologer says! Most of the time, they exaggerate. So it is up to you how much to believe.

Very true, Sam. Even I have met an astrologer who predicted my future and my wedding date and all. But all astrologers are not efficient; only a few are. If we find them, we are lucky. Definitely, we cannot stop destiny, but we can minimize the effects. That's true. Thanks, Sam.
