Dear All,

We all search for a mentor at the beginning of our careers. Some find one, while others are still in search. Mentors act as guides to us. The attached PowerPoint presentation is a valuable resource on how to be a good mentor. I am sharing this to help you develop your own skills.

Thank you.

Dear Aditi,

A nice presentation as it does not only talk about the differences between mentoring, coaching, or training but also goes on to discuss the process. The important point for the mentors to understand is to be in the shoes of a facilitator. Most of the time, we see ourselves as facilitators (mentors) but instead of facilitating the decision-making process, we start instructing. The idea is to play a role that helps the mentee to decide, not for the mentor to instruct the decision-making of the mentee.

Good one!!!!

Hi Adi3in,

Just came across this mentor PowerPoint in this site. I think it is terrific. I especially endorse all the tips for mentors. Do not expect to have all the answers. Very often, mentors jump to give solutions. Mentors should ask questions to help the mentee find out the answers.

Thanks once again, Adi.
