Appraisal Systems

Purpose

This component provides you with the support you need for creating appraisal systems, and planning, implementing, and reporting on appraisals. An appraisal system is a self-contained process that enables you to make formal and standardized evaluations in a business context using one or more templates (appraisal models), and in as objective a manner as possible. In the Appraisal systems component, you can, for example, map the following appraisal systems:
  • Personnel appraisals
  • 360° feedback appraisals
  • Formalized job references
  • Business event appraisals
  • Tests
  • Surveys
The Appraisal Systems component can be used as a personnel development instrument to evaluate members of your organization in a planned, formalized and standardized manner. These evaluations are performed by trained persons commissioned especially for this purpose by your organization. Personnel appraisals are used to obtain information on the characteristics, behavioral traits and performance of members of your organization, and form the basis for planning and making decisions that apply both to individuals, and to organizational members in general. Personnel appraisals can also be used to monitor the success of human resource measures that have already been implemented. As a personnel development instrument, therefore, they can be used both to evaluate the past, and plan for the future.
Integration
Features

You can map all kinds of analytical appraisal systems in the Appraisal systems component. You can create different appraisal models for each appraisal system. These appraisal models are managed in an appraisal catalog. You can also compare appraisals that are created using the same appraisal model. Appraisal models enable you to define information specific to each appraisal. This information includes:
  • Who is to appraise whom or what
  • Appraisal type
  • Rating scale for each appraisal element
  • Calculation procedure for automatically calculating partial and overall results
Any number of planning objects (appraisers and appraisees) can be involved in an appraisal. An option is also available which allows you to keep the appraisers anonymous. You can create appraisals in several phases and, in the case of multisource appraisals, you can define an individual creation period for each appraiser.
You can carry out the entire appraisal procedure in an IT environment. Alternatively, you can use another medium when carrying out the actual appraisal itself. In the Appraisal Systems component, you can create one-time appraisals and plan appraisals that are held regularly.

An approval workflow has also been defined to streamline the appraisal process.
