I guess you must be aware of your immediate competitors/ similar companies and if you are using any job portals then call various candidates from your competiors and do a telephonic round with them and put this data in excel sheet u can further validate this data by asking them for orginal sal slip and conslidating in excel sheet or else u can conduct a walk in interview to get the data as well potential candidates.
I guess this data may not be accurate but defintely it will give you idea reagrding the skewness. I had done like this once.....

The most scientific way to handle this is to do a compensation bench marking. There are good agencies in will market who can help you with this. However, that be a costly proposition.
To keep it economical, you can your any job portal e.g. naukri and make your own database based on information available there.However, for this to be effective you need to consider only recently updated profiles.
