Dear Krishan,
You have not given enough details to help you. However, take a look at The book publishing industry - Albert N. Greco - Google Books
What's your background and how many years of work experience do you have?
Have a nice day

Please answer my questions to start with. What qualifications do you have and how much work experience do you have and as what?
If I am right, you have posted another thread in which you state the company is pan Indian and has 109 employees and is a proprietary one.
If so, you need o list all the personnel at various sites and their designations and prepare a hierarchical table indicating who reports to whom and for what.
Have a nice day.

Dear Simhan,
I am MBA qualified in HR and ha have experience of 1 and half year.
Yes, You are right i posted that thread also.
and regarding hierarchical table, no hierarchical table is here because every one is reporting directly to the managing director whether he is a sales executive or a goods packer. each and everyone is reporting to MD

I thought so; I did not want to assume things; hence, I raised questions.
An organisation tree will not do much given the situation. Just consider how you would feel if you were reporting to the MD andsuddenly you were asked to report to someoneelse in the organisation. The MD has to inform the staff that for the company to progress (s)he has to make changes and get a new structure, etc. Unless the MD is prepared to sack a few people who will not fit into the new structure, you will be wasting your time in bringing about changes. I feel that you do not have enough experience to bring about changes and youshould take the hel of some a professional.
Have a nice day.

It all depends upon the owner and how flexible and open to suggestions (s)he is. Wish you all the best.

My friend this is a tough situation and the MD has to support you all the way. To start with you have to come up with a tree structured organization chart showing the positions only and which position reports to which position. Remember do not fit any names into the boxes yet. Then next do a job analysis for each position and then do a manpower skills audit for all your staff. Now match the positions with a candiadate with the rightfull skills and experience and place names in to the positions.

Remember this is quite an expensive project and you must have a budget to run with it, and to deal with excess staff that you have to let go on mutual separation agreements if they do not fit into the new structure. It does not have to be a once off stance, you have to take it step by step, may be department by department reviewing and studying the results sothat you get to adjust undesirable outcomes in the next steps.

This process is called Zero based restructring and try to do some researchs on line to fine out more on it. We have done one with our company since 2009 and we are not yet finized. We are still suffering from voluntary retrenchemt cost and from staff cost from die hard staff who does not want to make a mutual separation settlement.

Wish you luck

Dear Edson,
From the information given by Krishan they do not have any structure as everyone reports to the MD. Thus MD's span of control is 100+ scatterred over a wide region.
You are right, it's long-term process and if the MD is not committed to change, there is no hope.
Have a nice day.
