Dear All,
I am seriously confused now.
3 months back I had applied for my PF withdrawal. Yesterday I got System-generated message from EPFO that the settlement has been done and sent to my bank account. But now the thing is, my bank account mentioned in the SMS is wrong. One digit is missing in-between. I am constantly calling to the PF office. But nobody is picking the call. And the problem is I live in Mumbai, but the PF office in in Chennai. So I cannot go to the PF office to inquire about it.
Can anybody tell me what I shall do now?

I endorse Vicky Sagar's view. You have no other go but to follow up the matter with the concerend P.F Commissioner at Chennai immediately as lapse of time may complicate the issue. The P.F authorities will definiteley attend to the matter since they are under obligation under Para 72(7) of teh P.F Scheme to settle an employee's claim within 30 days of it's receipt by teh P.F Commissioner.

Dear All,
First of all, thanks for replying.
Today I again tried to contant PF office-Chennai. And luckily I got connected. They said that the money has returned back to them as no such a Bank account exists. So they said that I will have to write a letter to them regarding this problem. I asked them what kind of letter they want me to write. Then they transfered my call to some number, which did not respond. And now again they are not picking up the call :)
Can you tell me what kind of letter I shall send to them? Shall I mention the Correct bank Account Number in it?
Thanks & Regards,
Girish

Dear Girish,
If you are doing so as sachin message. your PF refund will be done. But, you need not reapply. Contact your previous employer and seek how they can help in this matter?. PF office should send a letter to you or either previous employer regarding this. Replying to the letter will do. But the time span will be long. Better to proactive and take the issue to PF office with Previous employer.
If not, you need to approach PF commissioner at chennai office directly to bring this mistake to his knowledge.
Correct me if i am wrong
Thanks

Dear Girish,
You can try this also,
There is a grievance machanism in PF Office, Chennai (PF Adalat). You can send a detailed letter to them with copies of all documents seeking their intervention. I think this will work. You can find out the PF Adalat's contact address etc. in their chennai web site and seek exemption from personal appearance before the Adalat due to your inability being at Mumbai and not able to get leave and bear the cost as well. Apart from this you have to send copy of this letter by Regd.Post Ack.Due to the concerned with a copy to the Regional P.F.Commissioner, Chennai. Also simultaneously thro' e-mail. Keep records of all these.
Incidentally are you not preferring for transfer of your PF balance to the present office/RFO, Mumbai, why you want to settle now. I think still you are young and it will help you in a long run. Moreover, if you are employed now you are not eligible to apply for settlement also. You attached a declaration of Unemployed, istn't ? Pl.examine all the aspects BEFORE PROCEEDING FURTHER, YOU SHOULDN'T LAND INTO COMPLICATIONS.
All the best.

Dear All,
Thanks for your valuable suggestions.
I contacted to my previous company, they asked me to write one letter regarding this issue, and told me to send it to them.
After that they will do further proceedings. I think I should give a try to this. If still the problem not solved, I will try other things.
Thanks & Regards,
Girish
