Has the amendment bill 2010, payment of gratuity act 1972 extending limit of gratuity from 3.5 Lacks to 10 Lacks , passed by Lok Sabha as well as by Rajya Sabha, been notified in the gazette of india. if so let me know the date of notification and date of application.

The Payment of Gratuity (Amendment) Act 1972 has been passed in Loksabha on 22.04.2010 thereby raising the limit from 3.50 lakhs to 10.00 lakhs which will become in force from 22.04.2010. actual effective date of implementation will be mentioned by labour ministry at the time of notification which will be signed by honourable president of india hence pls wait do not spread false imformation.

THE GRATUITY AMENDMENT BILL 2010 WAS INTRODUCED ON 22 APR 2010 AND PASSED BY BOTH THE HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT, NOW IT IS TO RECEIVE ASSENT FROM PRESIDENT. AFTER THAT LABOUR MINISTRY WILL NOTIFY THE EFFECTIVE DATE. HOPE, SO FAR THEY HAVE GIVEN RETROSPECTIVE EFFECT.
THERE IS DEMAND THAT IT SHOULD BE EFFECTIVE FROM 01 JAN 2006 AS IT WAS FROM THIS DATE IT IS GIVEN EFFECT TO GOVERNMENT SERVANTS AND FOR OTHER PSUs IT WAS EFFECTIVE FROM 01 JAN 2007. FOR OTHER SECTORS WE PRAY GOD FOR RETROSPECTIVE EFFECT.

dear friends,the date of effect of graiuty amount must be from1/1/2006 at par with central govt employees.since amendment has beendone by parliament which should maintain equity of law,there shouldbe no disparity,discrimination.this is a serious matter and require mass representations to labour ministry,pl raise the issue vigourasly .

To fix date 24 th May 2010 for remaining sectors (Other Than Govt employees and Public Sector Undertakings) is really discrimination. Even RBI employess have got it from back date. Why act is not made applicable from 01.01.2006 to all sectors is not clear.
