Hello everyone, there are very few rural BPOs in India as it's a concept still developing. As per the conventions, there should be minimal attrition in these BPOs, but then they do have it. So let's discuss what could be the reasons for the attrition and how it should be controlled.

It was discussed recently in a newspaper (the topic was why BPOs are not running successfully in rural areas). I don't remember most reasons, but whatever I remember I will post.

Most people don't like the idea of shifting to a rural place from metro/big cities. The problem of getting experienced, skilled manpower, the difference in thinking, attitude of rural and metro people.

Yes, that's true. The basic idea behind this rural BPO is to provide employment to rural people. Big companies like Satyam and Lason have also embraced this concept with the idea of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). However, a matter of concern arises when we observe that despite being offered an alternative employment solution at their doorstep, why do these rural individuals choose to quit?

The basic idea of setting up a BPO in rural areas is that it costs less than in metros, and very few rural people would be eligible to be employed in rural BPOs.

The people who quit in rural BPOs are not from rural areas; they are from urban areas and do not like staying in rural areas, as they prefer the city to the village, malls to general stores, and so on, etc.
