Self Introduction - means when you join a new company, for example, you introduce yourself to people around. In a party, you introduce yourself to people around. "Tell about yourself" means you detail people about your occupation, interests, qualifications, etc. Self-introduction activity comes from yourself; "tell about yourself" could be a question.

"Self-Introduction" is more general in nature when compared to "Tell me something about yourself." "Self-Introduction" may happen at any given point in time at a social level, but "Tell me about yourself" is job-specific. The answer demands something to be told keeping in mind the requirements of the job.

Dear,

Self-introduction is nothing but volunteering yourself and stating about yourself without any specific direction. "Tell about Yourself" implies someone is instructing you to introduce yourself to them.

In the first scenario, the other party does not necessarily have to patiently listen to your narrations. However, in the second case, the listener is expected to patiently hear your introduction since they have asked you to share about yourself.

In both cases, avoid exaggerating your abilities. Particularly during interviews, exaggeration can lead to problems after being hired.
