4 New Labour Codes effective-November 21, 2025:
29 National Labour Laws have been replaced by 4 new labour codes, effective November 21, 2025. The new labour codes (collectively, “Labour Codes”) are:
1) Code on Social Security, 2020,
2) Industrial Relations Code, 2020,
3) Occupational Health, Safety and Working Conditions Code, 2020, and
4) Code on Wages, 2019

Though the New Codes have been announced right from 2019 and onwards the effective implementation & replacement of various Acts/Laws were in limbo since then. Now the Indian government has finally implemented the new labour codes – by far the biggest change ever to the Indian labour law regime. 29 national labour laws have been replaced by 4 new labour codes, effective November 21, 2025.
