A candidate was taken as an intern for 6 months, after which a job offer was given. Now, after 3 years, the candidate has quit and is asking for an experience letter starting from the date of the internship. The management is willing to provide the letter, but it may differ from the actual documentation. We have issued a letter for the internship period, closing the 6-month duration.

I am unsure about how to proceed with the documentation, as the management is requesting it despite my concerns about the difference between an internship and employment. I would also need to change the joining date on the payslip if I were to issue the letter as per the candidate's request. Please help with suggestions.

Dates:

- Internship period: 2.1.2020 - 31.06.2020
- Employment date: 01.07.2020 - 31.08.2023
- Candidate requesting experience letter for the period 2.1.2020 - 31.08.2023.

Dear Trishika,

As you have given another offer letter mentioning the date, deviating from that date would not be legal.

Difference Between Internship and Regular Employment

There is a difference between an internship and regular employment, and it's important to maintain that distinction in the documentation. Internships are typically considered a learning experience, while employment signifies ongoing job responsibilities.

Experience Letter and Appointment Date

The experience letter should be the same as the date of the appointment letter.
