Hello,

I worked in an IT company in Pune with 500-1000 employees and gave my best. I left the company 2.5 months ago and completed the full and final settlement (FnF) process, including receiving the release letter. Now, the company is suddenly asking for the bonus back, which I discussed with the Account Manager as a company bonus. I received a threatening email demanding the return of 90,000 INR, or they will withhold the Form 16 and potentially create issues with the background verification for my current employer. I believe I rightfully earned the bonus, but I am unsure if they can take such action. Can you please provide guidance on this matter?

Hi,

I think you are referring to a bonus that is received for completing a project or special assignment. The amount paid is for past contributions, and the employer has no right to ask for it back.
