Dear Seniors,

We hired a security guard for our office in February 2022, who is still working with us. The guard's age at the time of recruitment was 62, and we are deducting his ESI from the day of joining. I want to know if this is correct, and if not, how to provide health insurance to him because his salary is INR 20,000.

Kindly guide us.

Thank You

ESIC Scheme does not mention any age restrictions for ESI contributions. As long as the monthly gross salary, excluding conveyance allowance (as per the Apex court verdict), is 21,000/- per month or below, the employee will be covered under ESI.
