Hey folks, need advice on how to handle this scenario. I had two offers last year and eventually chose a company that was suitable for me. Unfortunately, the second company created a PF account which is showing as the present employer because of the latest joining date.

Now the problem lies in this: I want to withdraw my PF amount from previous organizations, and I do have multiple member IDs, all of which have a balance.

So, my dilemma is if I transfer the balance of previous member IDs to the present employer member ID (where I did not join in the first place), do I need employer approval to withdraw the transferred amount? Or is there any snag I might face while transferring and withdrawing? How should I proceed with this? I need to withdraw the PF.

Note, KYC is already approved, and I have connected with AADHAR and PAN.

Withdrawing PF Accumulations: Understanding the Process

Did you try to withdraw the PF accumulations using your member portal? The issue is that since the UANs are linked with a single Aadhaar and telephone number, the system may reject the withdrawal. The present company should not have created a new UAN.

Creating a New UAN: Is It Possible?

I am still confused; is it possible to create a new UAN when the Aadhaar is already linked to another UAN? The only possible way is transferring the multiple accounts to the present one by separate transfer requests made through the online portal.

Transfer Requests: Approval Process

The requests should be approved either by the present employer or by the previous employer. While submitting the requests, you can choose either of the two. It is better if you select the respective previous employer.

This is not a case of multiple UANs. Basically, I have worked for more than three companies in the last few years, each of which has its respective PF accounts or member ID accounts. The balance is accumulated in these accounts, while a new PF account is created by a company where I didn't join. Meanwhile, the present company has a different member ID.

Scenario

Company A and Company B offer positions. I join Company A while Company B proceeds with creating a PF account, and the joining date is later than Company A's. As a result, the present employer is listed as Company B in the EPF account. Hope this clarifies.

Understanding PF Member ID and UAN

When you join a company, naturally, the company will allot a PF member ID. When you leave that company and join another company, the new company will allot another PF ID, but the UAN will remain the same. The earlier PF account can be transferred to the new one without any issue.

Issue with Present Employment and PF ID

I understand that the problem is not with the transfer, but the present employment itself is the issue. I am afraid, how can an employer create a PF ID in respect of an employee who has never joined their company? I don't think that a member can rectify this issue, but it would require the intervention of the technical/IT cell of the EPFO. Therefore, you may write to EPFO marking copies to the employers.

I made a mistake by clicking on the portal link or joining link they sent me, which recorded my attendance. As a result, it shows that I was an employee for a day. Can I transfer the previous member IDs to this account so that I can withdraw my PF? Do I need their approval to transfer and withdraw from the UAN portal?

Updating Employment Status for PF Transfer

The company where you are currently working and making contributions may appear as a past employment. If so, you can update your employment status by entering the date of exit as the same date as your entry. Once you have updated this information, you will be able to log in with your UAN and the member ID of your current employer. You can then proceed to transfer any old accounts to your new one. Give it a try.

No, it's not showing as past employment nor present because the other had the latest joining date, and even after they've marked "Date of exit," it shows as the present employer in the UAN portal. So, I have to transfer to this account as the current company is not showing up.

Transfer and Withdrawal Process

Can I transfer old accounts to this member ID and be able to transfer and withdraw without their approval? As that is the option I'm getting.
