Understanding Provident Fund Contributions: Employee and Employer Contributions Clarified - CiteHR

Dear Experts,

One of my employee's basic salary is shown as 20,000 in the EPF portal. He wants to contribute Rs 2400 on 20,000. However, as the employer, I will only contribute Rs 1800. My query is, is it possible for the employee to contribute Rs 2400 and the employer to contribute Rs 1800?

If this arrangement is possible, is there a different process to file ECR?

Please help.

It is very common for employees to voluntarily contribute more to the Voluntary Provident Fund (VPF), but the employer will restrict the contribution up to the statutory limit. In the employee's contribution, you will need to show the extra amount by adding the VPF amount.
