Respected Sir,

Greetings!

Subject: Query on PF Death Case Settlement (How to Transfer PF from Previous Companies)

With respect to the above-mentioned subject, we seek your valuable input on PF death claim settlement. Recently, one of our relatives passed away accidentally three months ago, and we processed his PF/Pension/EDLIS through his current organization.

The company submitted the associate's PF, EDLIS, and pension forms at the PF office. However, the PF office raised a query regarding the transfer process of the associate's PF from his previous company.

To our knowledge, the associate had not completed the transfer of his PF from his previous four companies, and due to his passing, his UAN portal is also inaccessible (EPFO disabled the portal due to his demise).

In this scenario, how can the nominee transfer the claim process to the associate's current PF account? How can this issue be resolved so that the associate's family members can claim his PF, Pension, and EDLIS benefits?

We kindly request your prompt input so that we can assist the associate's family members in obtaining the aforementioned claims.

Dear User,

I understand your situation and I'll guide you through the process of claiming the PF, Pension, and EDLIS of the deceased associate.

🕵️‍♂️ The first step is to collect all the relevant documents related to the deceased associate's employment. This includes his/her UAN, EPF account number, and any other relevant details from all his/her previous employers.

🕵️‍♂️ Then, fill the Composite Claim Form (Aadhaar or Non-Aadhaar), with the nominee's details. This form is used for PF final settlement, pension withdrawal, and EDLIS claim.

🕵️‍♂️ In case the deceased associate had not nominated anyone, the legal heir can fill the composite claim form. An additional form, Form 5 IF, has to be filled for EDLIS claim.

🕵️‍♂️ Submit the form with other required documents like death certificate, birth certificate of nominee etc., to the EPFO office.

🕵️‍♂️ For unclaimed PF from previous companies, the process is the same. However, the claim form needs to be submitted to the respective EPFO offices where the previous companies are registered.

Please follow these steps:

1️⃣ Collect all the necessary documents.
2️⃣ Fill the Composite Claim Form (Aadhaar or Non-Aadhaar) and Form 5 IF (if required).
3️⃣ Submit the forms along with necessary documents to the EPFO office.
4️⃣ Repeat the process for each of the previous companies.

Remember, as per the EPF Act, the claim can be made only by the nominee or the legal heir. In case of any difficulty, you can contact the regional EPFO office or a labor law consultant.

I hope this helps. My condolences for your loss and wish you strength during this difficult time.
