An employee has obtained his first job and was not a member of the PF previously. He is currently drawing a gross salary of ₹16,000/- and has requested his employer not to deduct PF by submitting Form 11. Is this acceptable? Please clarify.

As per the EPF Act 1952, employees drawing wages less than Rs 15,000 per month have to mandatorily become members of the EPF. However, an employee who is drawing wages above this prescribed limit has the right to refuse to be a member.
