Dear Tutors, should all industries (IT/ITES/hotel/factories/shops) obtain a fire & safety license for keeping fire extinguishers? Recently, one of the IT industries employing 25 resources in Chennai was inspected by labor officials who asked for a license to keep a fire extinguisher. They gave a time limit to submit the same by next Wednesday. However, when we asked the vendor from whom we purchased, they also did not know where to obtain it.
Hence, please share your advice on where to acquire the license if it is required.

The license for the fire extinguisher is provided to the establishment at the time of sale. It needs to be refilled and renewed at annual intervals after refilling CO2. The fire extinguisher vendor and refill-making companies submit these documents with their registration number to the Fire & Safety Department, duly stamped. They also affix their hologram and date stickers on the equipment, indicating that these are maintained and "good to use" until the specified date.
