Police Clearance Certificate Requirement for Onboarding

I am from Hyderabad, and I've got a job in Bangalore. My work location is also Bangalore, but my company is asking me to provide a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC). I approached a local police station and enquired about the PCC. They informed me that police stations these days cannot issue PCCs as everything is done online. They further advised that I need to register on the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) website and apply through the PSK portal, which will take 21 days for the PCC to process. I confirmed this with my HR, and she also mentioned that it's done online these days through PSK only.

After following their instructions, I created my account on the PSK portal and was trying to upload my details. I came across a mandatory field asking me, "Country for which PCC is required." Now, I cannot proceed further because I need the PCC for a local purpose, i.e., in India only, and I cannot find the option to select India. How do I proceed further?

I need this PCC to be submitted to my company for the onboarding process to complete. I just want to know from the expert HRs what I need to do to make it work. Your help is highly appreciated.

Company Responsibility for Employee Verification

Basically, it is the company's responsibility to conduct necessary verifications on their own for hired employees. In your case, if the company is not performing the required verifications, it is advisable to use online sites for such verification. In some states, there are centralized police sites, while in others, verifications can be done through PSK or by approaching the DM office.
