What is the definition of minimum wages after the Code of Wages Act? Any changes impact.

There is always confusion whether basic + DA equals minimum wage or if basic is equal to minimum wages. The reason behind this confusion is that DA changes every 6 months in Maharashtra, which is applicable to factories (engineering).

Minimum wages are as follows, with DA at 4536/-:
- Skilled: 11,255
- Semi Skilled: 10,160
- Unskilled: 9,000

Dear Colleague,

'Wages' under MW Act are defined to include both Basic wages and Dearness Allowance (Special Allowance). Although the DA varies periodically, it still forms an integral part of the term 'wages'.
