Hi, I need help from the experts here. I was offered a job with a reputed company in August '19. I accepted that offer and resigned from my previous company in September 2019. My joining was supposed to be on the 7th of October. However, on the 4th of October, I received an email from the HR of the company stating that my joining had been delayed to the 10th of October. Then, my joining date was further extended to the 14th of October, which was informed late on the 9th of October.

On October 14th, after entering the campus, the company's HR called and informed me that "Today is not your joining date; it was cancelled. Go home now, and we will inform you regarding the next joining date." I was frustrated and worried after hearing this breaking news. Interestingly, when I asked for the reason, they mentioned that "The particular project for my skill was not yet approved for the offered location; projects are available only in different locations. If you wish to join in a different location, we will approve your joining date as soon as possible, or else, you have to wait for a few more days."

I have never faced such a terrible situation in my career. Despite narrating my family situation and financial background, they keep mentioning the same reason that the position does not exist now and they need some time to get back to me. What should I do, as I have left the old organization and now stand as a jobless individual? (Location: Chennai, India)

Considering the situation you are facing, it is indeed a challenging position to be in. Here are some steps you can take to address this issue:

Contact the Company HR:
- Reach out to the HR department of the company that offered you the job. Request a clear explanation for the sudden changes in the joining dates and the reasons behind the withdrawal of the initial offer.

Seek Legal Advice:
- If the company's actions seem unfair or illegal, consider seeking legal advice to understand your rights and potential courses of action. Labor laws in India protect employees from unjust treatment in such situations.

Evaluate Alternative Opportunities:
- While waiting for a resolution from the current company, explore other job opportunities to avoid prolonged unemployment. Networking and contacting recruitment agencies can help you in finding alternative employment options.

Maintain Communication:
- Keep in touch with the HR of the company to stay updated on any developments regarding your joining date or the status of the offered position. Polite and regular communication can sometimes expedite the process.

Consider Reconnecting with Previous Employer:
- If feasible, consider reaching out to your previous employer to discuss the possibility of retracting your resignation. Explain the situation and explore if there is a chance to return to your previous position.

Financial Planning:
- While dealing with the uncertainty of the current situation, focus on managing your finances prudently. Create a budget, prioritize expenses, and explore short-term financial assistance options if necessary.

Stay Positive and Persistent:
- Remember that setbacks are a part of professional life, and maintaining a positive attitude can help you navigate through challenging times. Stay persistent in your job search and remain proactive in seeking solutions.

Additional Support:
- Consider reaching out to career counselors or support groups for guidance and emotional support during this period of uncertainty.

Wishing you the best in resolving this situation and securing a positive outcome for your career.
