We are having the Karnataka Legislative Assembly election in 2018 on Saturday, 12 May, and it ends on Tuesday, 15 May in different regions of the state.

Can factories run during the election day? We can give permission for two hours and continue with the work.

No, election days should be observed as closed holidays for all factories, shops, and commercial establishments. In Karnataka, there is no requirement for any special declaration in this regard, unlike many other states where a separate notification will be issued by the Labour Department. This is because under the Karnataka Industrial Establishments (National and Festival Holidays) Act, there is a special provision (section 3A) to grant a holiday on election day.
