I have worked with my current organization for over 3 years and have resigned to join another company. They did try to retain me, but I did not relent. Since then, while I have been continuously following up for resignation acceptance, they are not giving me a definitive answer regarding the acceptance or relieving date. On the day I resigned, they were upset and asked me to stop reporting to the office. They told me they would pay me and complete the full and final settlement, which I have documented in an email. Subsequently, they called me and asked me to rejoin, which I did out of a sense of responsibility to initiate the handover.
However, in the meantime, I communicated to my future employers that we could bring forward the date of joining, considering I was asked not to report to the office. Now, I am stuck as my current employer is not accepting my resignation or informing me of the last working day despite multiple follow-ups. The notice period is 3 months, but I can only serve 45 days due to committing to early joining in the next company. My current employers are not cooperating, and I am under a lot of stress and going through mental agony due to the ambiguity from their end. Please advise on the course of action.

On what basis did you take this chance? You will have to follow up with your current employer and meanwhile request your new employer to extend the joining date. Did you give a formal resignation via email or in writing? Your post is slightly confusing. What is this about joining back to complete the handover? Kindly make your post clearer with dates of resignation, joining back, etc., to get better replies.
