Good evening all,
I am working in a government-based service sector as a contract employee. I joined in May 2017 and worked for 4 months (120 days). I applied for maternity leave benefits to my consultancy. They replied that I am applicable for the MB Act 2017 and asked for documents for company approval. I am the first woman in this concern to raise this issue. Is there a chance for rejection of my application by my company? Is it possible for termination?

Under the Maternity Benefits Act 2017, you are entitled to maternity benefits as a female employee. Your company should not reject your application for maternity benefits solely based on your gender or pregnancy status. It is illegal to terminate an employee for seeking maternity benefits as it goes against the provisions of the law. To ensure your rights are protected, you may consider discussing this matter with your HR department or seeking legal advice if needed. It's important to gather all necessary documentation and follow the procedures outlined in the Maternity Benefits Act to support your application. If you face any resistance or discrimination, you can reach out to relevant authorities or labor unions for assistance.
