I have pursued my PGDM in Marketing and HR. I joined as a Business Development Officer in a logistics organization. After working for a year, I switched to media as an Ad Sales Executive. Currently, I am working with a reputed organization in ad sales. I have switched jobs three times in less than three years. Sales was not the career option I was looking for from the beginning, but now it seems I am being dragged deeper into sales.

Interest in Marketing and HR

My area of interest has always been in hardcore marketing, e.g., branding, advertising, planning, but it seems difficult to get into these profiles. As I have done my PGDM in HR as my secondary specialization, I was thinking along the lines of applying for an HR job, which is also my field of interest.

Seeking Career Advice

What should be my next move as I do not want to be in sales for long and it is not my area of interest?

Switching Careers with Passion

It is perfectly okay to switch jobs and still have a passion for something else. If you are really interested in branding and advertising, then start looking for a job in that field. See if you can work as an intern in some organization and gain the necessary experience. There are a lot of short-term courses in branding and advertising. There are some online courses too. See if you can gain more skills in the field of your choice.

Don't jump to HR if you are more passionate about branding and advertising. I was an engineer, but I changed my line from engineering to training, and I am very happy about it. I am sure if you actively look out for what you want, you will get it. All the best!
