Hi, I have recently joined a company as AM HR. I came to know that the company is counting salary based on 26 days, not paying for 30 days. On top of that, they want to implement sandwich leave as well. How is that possible when the employer is already not paying for Sunday? How can they deduct? I tried to convey the same, but they are fully convinced. Please advise.

If the salary for an employee is Rs. 10,000/- per month. You are calculating Rs. 384 per day for 26 days instead of Rs. 333 per day for 30 days. Rs. 384 x 26 days = 10,000/- which is excluding Sundays. So if an employee takes one sandwich leave, then the payable days would be 24 days. So their salary would be Rs. 384 x 24 days = 9,230/-. If you calculate based on 30 days and an employee takes one sandwich leave, their salary would be Rs. 333 x 27 days = 9,000/-. Explain this to your management and ask them to move to a 30-day pattern for calculating pay.
