In the current scenario, I would like to know how HR can be customer-centric to its internal customers (employees). What steps should HR take to improve its relationship with the employees so that productivity is higher and they deliver quality products to external customers?

Creating a Customer-Centric HR Environment
HR can be said to be customer-centric when the workplace is a happy one for employees, and Mondays are welcomed with open arms. However, a happy workplace does not manifest on its own; it needs to be created, and HR is the key facilitator in making it happen. HR should aim for the right mix of work, wages, welfare, and wealth for the organization. It should build a culture of free communication so that employees do not feel stifled in voicing their contributions to strategies and solutions. This instills a feeling of ownership in them. Employees need to have a mentor who can guide them through confusion and conflicts. HR needs to identify mentors within the organization.
Empowering Employees
Empower employees by investing in their development through learning and development initiatives. Initiate employee-friendly measures like flexible working hours to provide work-life balance and invest in the healthcare of employees. Keep employees in good humor by organizing fun activities now and then, as social lubrication is necessary to remove clogs of stress and rejuvenate their mind and body, which can be transferred by the employee to the workplace. Keep engaging the employee. It sounds easier but is harder in practice, as all this sound advice may immediately drive you to think of the budget. Employees are no longer sweet-talked to stay with you; they may vanish faster than Aladdin's magic lamp if they are not engaged.
