I'm a software professional, working in the IT industry for 10 years in India. Recently, I got an opportunity for employment in Malaysia. However, I have some concerns that I need to get cleared before I consider taking the job. There was an issue in my second last company, and due to some unfortunate event, I was terminated. I received an auto-generated release letter at the time of leaving. Recently, due to this sudden job opportunity, I contacted the HR team of that company regarding the termination issue. They confirmed that I can use the same release letter for future references.
Now, my concerns are:
- Should I explicitly mention the termination incident before joining?
- If I don't mention it and it later comes to the surface during background verification, what could happen to me and my career as per the country's rules?
Could someone please clarify these issues for me? It would be a great help. Thanks in advance.

Hello,
You haven't mentioned clearly whether the Malaysia job is on the rolls of any company in India and you are being sent onsite or you are going on a work permit on the rolls of a Malaysian company. If the latter, then there shouldn't be any problem at your experience level. If the former or if you are joining the Malaysian office of any Indian company, then yes, there could be issues.
How many companies have you worked in so far in the 10 years? The earlier companies usually don't get included in any background verifications.
All the best.

Hi, I am Bharathi, a graduate in MBA HR. I worked as a recruiter for 2 years and had a gap of 6 years since 2013. Now my husband is working in Malaysia, and I am shifting to Malaysia with a dependent visa. I am curious about the job opportunities related to HR or admin fields in Malaysia. My husband mentioned that currently, many procedures have changed, and only Malaysians are employable for salaries below 10,000 RM. Could someone shed some light on this for me?
