I have a potential employer from Saudi Arabia who has been following up with me for quite some time (almost a year now), and the potential offer matured in October 2014. The VISA process started a long time ago, though there were hurdles along the way. To be honest, the Saudi-based future employer has been very patient even though the process has been delayed.
Since the Saudi VISA process began, I could not consider any other better offers as my degree certificate and marks sheet were stuck with the future Saudi employer's agent in Mumbai.
Recently, the Saudi-based future employer's agent in India contacted me (on 15th April 2015) informing me that my engineering degree certificate has been rejected by the Saudi embassy as the HRD attestation needs to be redone. The Saudi cultural attestation has been completed. I have submitted my degree certificate for HRD attestation stamping immediately and expect to receive it next week.
I am unsure of how much more time is needed to complete the Saudi VISA endorsement on my passport. I am concerned about the prolonged process of the Saudi work VISA as my current employer is planning to send me on an overseas long-term assignment (site deputation on a major project in Saudi Arabia starting from October 2015). My current employer has requested my passport and degree certificate for this purpose. Although I am interested in continuing with my current employment, I understand that it may seem greedy to prioritize financial considerations. Please advise if my perspective is mistaken.
I seek expert advice on this stage of confusion. I do not wish to decline the offer from my future employer in Saudi Arabia after the cultural attestation is completed. I am uncertain about the implications of rejecting the offer on potential future opportunities in Saudi Arabia. I prefer to delay this process as I currently have my degree certificate with me, which is necessary for the Saudi VISA stamping on my passport.
Reasons for Delaying the Future Employment Opportunity in Saudi Arabia
Reason 1: I prefer to wait until October 15 to see if the overseas long-term assignment proposed by my current employer materializes and the package details are confirmed.
Reason 2: I have a retention bonus clause in my current employment contract that is due to mature on July 25. Resigning before this period would result in a significant loss.
Reason 3: I intend to renegotiate the designation and package offered by my future employer in Saudi Arabia, as the current designation is lower than my current position as per the agreement in October 2014.
I am currently in a state of dilemma and confusion and urgently seek expert advice. Please assist me in drafting an email to send to the Saudi-based future employer.
I look forward to your response as soon as possible.

Dear Imran,
Greetings. My name is Arup Kumar, and I am a Senior Recruiter with Total Talent Solution. Previously, I was an employee with the ICICI NRI team. Dear friend, you cannot sit on two boats at the same time, as the proverb goes. You have to make up your mind positively whether you want to continue with your present employer or if you want to go to Saudi Arabia.
You can always ask the HR team in Saudi Arabia to provide a breakdown of the salary package. After you have received the offer from them, you can then negotiate, maybe asking for 10% or 25% more on the salary package they have offered.
Regards,
Arup Kumar Singh
