Common Training Challenges Across Industries
The query you have posted is of a very generic nature. Training challenges are present in every field—be it manufacturing, design, marketing, software, or whatever you name. However, some of them are common:
• Lack of management will
• Paucity of funds
• Disinterested participants
• Absence of training needs analysis
• Poor effectiveness
• Assigning the wrong persons for training, etc.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to me, Raghunathan. Yes, I understand that each industry has its own set of training challenges. For instance, organizing classroom training for employees in the media industry would be practically impossible given that they consist of several departments, each working at different times of the day, with most employees not present onsite. The Pharma industry also has employees in the field. The ONG industry has employees located in remote locations where there is no internet connectivity.
Thank you for the points you mentioned and for your suggestion to try the Cite HR archives. I am also looking forward to contributions from other members in different sectors to provide me with first-hand experiences of their training challenges.

Hi All, as mentioned by Mr. Raghunathan, these are common reasons for inadequate training in all industries. This is also due to production load, overtime loss, man-hours loss, and the lack of cooperation from many high management personnel in training. Moreover, the education level of the workers may not allow them to accept specific training. The main idea behind this is that training is considered non-productive and unnecessary.

Thank you, Raghav, very valid points indeed. I never thought about the number of man-hours lost (although that was so obvious). High management people not cooperating with training is another new one for me.
Could you please explain to me what you mean when you say that the "educational level of the worker does not allow accepting a particular training"? I am interested to know more about this.
I am keen to know more about the training challenges people face in various industries. What may seem like an insignificant problem may be a big eye-opener to me and others reading this post, so please share your thoughts.
