Dear Sir/Madam, A very happy night to all of you. I have been working for a highly reputed manufacturing company since 2010. I possess 4 years of Sales and Business Development experience along with a PGDM in Marketing. In November 2013, I was transferred to the Human Resources Department. I found working in HR as fulfilling as my experience in Sales. However, I now aspire to build my career in HR and have applied for PGDHRM at Symbiosis Centre for Distance Education.

Concerns About Market Perception

I am concerned about how the market will perceive me if I decide to explore better opportunities elsewhere in the future. Will there be promising prospects for me without a traditional HR degree? I am apprehensive about not being able to make timely decisions and subsequently becoming unsuitable for Sales. While my passion lies in HR, from a job security perspective, my mind nudges me towards seeking a Sales position or returning to Sales within the same company, a move that even my seniors approve of. Interestingly, my Vice President of HR believes that I am well-suited for HR. In fact, the last time I sought a transfer, he advised me against it. I hold great respect for him and my company, but I find myself in a state of confusion.

Any guidance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

HR is a very interesting field. As your senior management is supporting you, I would suggest you go ahead. I am sure you will not regret this decision at any stage. HR is not rocket science, but basic knowledge in HR is a must. A good degree in HR will definitely be helpful to you. Please keep yourself updated continuously about the different aspects of HR, not only in your office but around the world.

Wishing you all the best for a bright future.

Regards,
Alex
