Hi All, I am working with a financial company in Mumbai where we also have a trustee company associated with it under the same roof. There are no employees in the trustee company. Kindly let me know, should we register the trustee company for a Shop & Establishment License?

Registration Requirement for Trust Companies Under the Bombay S&E Act

A company, whether it is registered or not under the charitable or other trust carrying any business, trade, or profession or work in connection with or incidental or ancillary thereto, and also its purpose, whether to gain or not, is included in the definition of "Commercial Establishment" as per Section 2(4) of the Bombay S&E Act.

The definition of "Establishment" (Section 2(7)) includes a Commercial Establishment. Each establishment, whether it employs any person or not, is liable for registration under this Act.

You are required to register your Trust Company under the Bombay S&E Act.
