Hi, as per my employment contract, I cannot join a company which either directly or indirectly competes with my current organization for 3 years after leaving the company. Is this contract lawful and valid?

There’s no such contract valid as well as bonds are not legal in India but you must not be shared any confidential information to other companies or organization.

Validity of Contracts on Human Life

As per the Indian Constitution, no contract can be made on human life. Therefore, any act passed that states contracts on human life are valid will be void.

Employment Mobility and Non-Compete Clauses

You can join any company as an employee. Take the example of Google employees joining Yahoo or other software companies. I think this rule is applicable worldwide.
