The period of probation can be extended further if the performance of an employee is not satisfactory, provided there is a clause permitting such an extension in the offer letter or letter of appointment.

Yes, the probation period can be extended, as very well said by Mr. Saji and Mr. B. Sai Kumar. When you extend the probation period for an employee, the letter should be issued in such a manner that it is motivating but not discouraging. Can you draft the letter?

The probation period could be extended, as already pointed out by all our members. However, the HR must have an authorized internal mail from the concerned department in which the employee whose probation is extended is serving.
