Hello All!!
There is just a query I need to discuss. In most companies, including mine, we expect employees to give a notice period of 1 month before leaving the company. The fact is that no new company waits for 1 month for an employee. Due to this, what happens is employees resign without giving a notice period, as they know they can't give a notice of 1 month. If they continue to come for some more days, it will not be fruitful, as they will not be paid for those days by the company.
I want to know, is it right and a practical decision to reduce the notice period by an employee to 15 days? Or is there any other manner where we can prevent employees from leaving in a day.
Looking forward to seeing responses.
Thanks & Regards!!

Dear Rupali,
According to me, the Notice Period is something that facilitates the company to plan for the replacement of the position that is going to be vacated. During this Notice Period, the company would recruit an individual and ensure that the work is properly delegated and familiarized by the relieving person to the newly inducted individual.
There are many companies that will wait until the employee is properly relieved, and in worst cases, they are not concerned about proper relieving formalities and may even compensate the employee with the Notice period amount.
Once the individual has given a relieving mail, we can no longer expect him to be productive if he is going to stay for 10 days or 1 month. I feel there is nothing the company would benefit or lose if you reduce the Notice period to 15 days.

Thank you, Srilatha!!
My main concern is to prevent employees from leaving the job after just one day, as this definitely affects the company's processes. That's the reason I wanted to know if there are other options available to address this issue.
Looking forward to more replies.
