Hi HR Team, I joined IBM 6 years ago and absconded without notice within 3 months due to some medical reasons. I only informed HR through an email. HR requested me to pay the notice period amount, which I was unable to do at that time. Now, I wish to rejoin the same company. If I apply for a position again at IBM, what would be the outcome? How long do IT corporate companies retain records? Can I reapply for jobs at IBM? I am still in need of assistance. Please help me.

Applying for jobs does no harm to anyone. However, being selected for the job is purely up to the company's decision. Certainly, they will have your records, whether it be 6, 8, or 10 years.
You can try applying for the vacancies available and wait for a response. If they are okay with you, go ahead.
You made a mistake by absconding without serving the notice period, whatever the reason may be. So it's up to the company whether they can give you a chance.
All the best!!
