Hi All,
1. I am trying replace CO2 Fire Extinguisher Trigger Mechanism, existing one is SPINDLE Type (Like water Tap) with HANDLE PRESSING type. What I feel is that due to High Pressure the user/employee may get injured, please enlighten.
2. Is there any norm of Fire Extinguisher density in an office premises. Say, Number of FEs per meter of space, or something on those parameters?
3. Is there a shelf life of Fire Fighting Mechanism Cylinders. If yes, then is there a standard/regulation practiced in india?
Need your urgent help.

Dear ,
CO2 Type Extinguisher may not be of Trigger Mechanism, because if you once push the trigger all the gas in the extinguisher will relase from the cylinder and this may be harmful. But using spindle you can control the exit of gas and also stop when you not required ths Gas.
Intensity is depend upon the volume of fire.

Raghvendra,
The fire extinguisher norms are defined in following.
1. Factories Act
2. National Building Load
It may not be a good practice to use CO2 cylinders as it is dangerous.
These can be installed depending on the type of fire. (A,B,C, D etc)
There are many IS codes, about portable extinguishers.
If you let us know your exact issue we can try to help you.
Thanks & Regards,
Sudhir

Sudhir,
I have joined a company with zero attention to fire safety.
1. The fire extinguishers are old & need to be replaced. These are non ISI stamped one, however the task is of refilling the same ASAP, since their refill due is over.
2. The office premises is approx 1.5Lac Sqft with high number of electricity connections & paper materials as a potential combustion hazard. What i am looking at is any recommendation basis which I can calculate as how many FEs are required for my office premises and a budget is created accordingly.
It is a Govt. agency and needs rules & regulation based decision making, that's why I need the forum's assistance.
Regards
