Team,
I read recently that the exemption given to IT companies in Karnataka from the Industrial Standing Orders Act has not been extended. Hence, IT companies in Karnataka will come under the purview of the Industrial Standing Orders Act. I would like to know the status of such exemption from the Industrial Standing Orders Act for IT companies in Tamil Nadu. Are IT companies excluded from the Industrial Standing Orders Act in TN? In case the law is applicable, please let us know the size of the establishment for coverage (is it 50 or 20).
Thank you for your time and clarifications.
Kind Regards,

In Tamil Nadu, there is no such exemption for the IT industry. If there are less than 50 workers, or not less than 20 workers employed or were employed on any day of the preceding 12 months, they will become applicable under the TN Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) Act.

Dear Mr. Pannerselvam,
Thank you for the clarification.
(a) What is meant by "Less than 50 workers and not less than 20 workers"? Does this mean establishments with more than 20 people will be covered?
(b) What is the process for the approval of Standing Orders? Can we do it ourselves?
(c) Is there a sample Standing Order for IT Companies?
Thank you for your time.
