Dear All,
Can anyone explain to me if X Co. is proposed to send their employees to foreign countries on company work for 2 to 3 months, what are the benefits and medical facilities an Insured Person can avail overseas during the working period under ESI? Also, what are the benefits and medical facilities for their family staying in India?
If an Insured Person dies in a foreign country, are there any provisions to receive compensation from ESI or not?
Please treat this as very urgent and reply soon.

Dear Friend,
Employees on deputation for overseas projects/assignments will always require insurance coverage, and their legal heirs will definitely be compensated. However, since ESI is present only in India, they may not receive benefits overseas. Nevertheless, certain benefits can be claimed from the ESI Corporation as the company has paid ESI contributions for such employees. Please contact the nearest ESI office before assigning an employee to an overseas project.

When an employee goes to his hometown, coverage definitely exists after filling out Form 105 (I am not sure about the correct form numbers). However, overseas coverage is not a possibility since insurance policies do not automatically extend once you cross the country. People need to obtain separate coverage for the temporary period overseas. The same applies when foreigners come to India as well.
