As per the Workmen's Compensation Act, it is required to deposit compensation in case of death within 30 days in the Labour court. However, due to circumstances, there has been a delay in depositing the compensation (a delay of 6 days). What are the legal implications for such a delay?

You have to pay simple interest at the rate of 12% per annum or at higher rates as per the lending rates of scheduled banks. I hope the matter is with the Workmen's Compensation Commissioner and not with the Labour Court.

Please refer to the Workmen's Compensation Act, preferably section 4 and 4A. I have attached the document and marked the relevant provisions that are suitable and applicable for your reference. You may also refer to any other details if needed or wherever marked.

Thank you.
