As a proactive measure in our company, we have started disposing of e-waste in an eco-friendly manner since 2010 when the e-waste Draft rules were published. We have already applied for e-waste while we submitted the application for renewal of our consent to operate well in advance in Oct 2011. The costs of e-waste disposal are estimated to be Rs. 2.0 Lakhs per annum. We have taken the objective to reduce the overall costs of the disposal of hazardous wastes by Rs. 10.0 Lakhs. Therefore, the increased cost of e-waste gets compensated with the reduction in the generation of hazardous wastes and its disposal cost. I appeal to everybody to give thoughts to reduce hazardous wastes, which is usually a neglected area.

Please find attached herewith the list of authorized e-waste recyclers in Maharashtra. I have noticed that often, management focuses on compliance, but many times the middle management ignores such compliances due to increased costs. I remember reading in the Times of India in 2004 that India is becoming a global dump yard. Similarly, Japan refused help from other countries except for "Particular Medicines" only because it never wanted to become a global dumping yard after the earthquake followed by the tsunami last year.
Let us strive for compliance and encourage others in the national interest.

At least in Maharashtra, there is no such format. What I did was apply for consent renewal. I applied for consent renewal somewhere in October 2011. However, as the rules were effective from May 2012, the State Pollution Control Board has not given any directives regarding e-waste. Our disposal is to authorized parties, filling all necessary forms as mentioned in the original post of Mr. PCA.
